Prompts: what scientific papers are related to When explaining complex topics it depends on the target audience which order of presentation will be most effective. Starting with the theory in a formalized and abstract way is the preferred approach in scientific circles. To present concrete examples and explain the links between the elements of the examples to the theoretical concepts and vice versa helps clarifying. In paedagogic settings it makes sense to ask the audience for it's preference: Shall the theory be presented first or the example?
